The stage one kit uses a reconfigured ECU that takes output to a “dyno-proven” 560-hp and 576 lb-ft of torque – an increase of 67-hp and 60 lb-ft over the standard Panamera Turbo. That allows 0-62 mph to come in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph. The second stage conversion adds a cat-back stainless-steel sports exhaust system with 3.5-inch tailpipes. Power is increased to 575-hp and 598 lb-ft of torque. 0-62 mph comes in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.

As far as pricing goes, the Sportec stage one is priced to the equivalent of $4,600 while the stage two upgrade will run you $12,700. Personally, we’re not sure if an extra $8,100 is worth it for the stage two kit since you only knock off .1 seconds of your 0-62 time. Either way, it’s your call.

Regardless of where you stand on the mere idea of a hatchback sedan (never mind one with love-it-or-loath-it styling) built by Porsche, there’s no denying that the Panamera is helping the storied Stuttgart marque reach demographics that heretofore would have never bought a Porsche, even if they had the monetary means. The recent introduction of the lower-priced, more fuel efficient V6 version will only further broaden the company’s customer base.

Here’s an interesting take on the German high speed taxi war – that’s right, it DOES exist. According to the video, Auto Bild editor Jörg Maltzan is more than willing to play a role in taking the battle to the streets -if only for a short period- with a Porsche Panamera Turbo. If anyone can clarify with a proper translation, send it over to us in the comments section after the jump.

Either way, it looks like the 500-horsepower “Taxamera” Turbo has a message for BMW’s M5 ‘Ring taxi: Bring it on. Now if it would only head over and pull some weekend duty for tourists at the Nürburgring, we’d have a real competition on our hands. Follow the jump for the video.
