In a post to Teamspeed.com forums, the artist was working with the impression that the front end would be rounder, with new air intakes, and bigger panels to make “the car longer and wider.”  He added LED daytime lights, a redesigned rear spoiler, and a new front spoiler.

Called the 981 inside Porsche offices, the next Boxster will attempt to hit sub-180 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer.  As such, they may use a three-cylinder engine with a turbo charger to deliver around 250 horsepower (186 kW), similar to the 2.9-liter flat-six already in use.

Porsche has confirmed that electric prototypes of their Boxster model are currently being evaluated by the company. The Boxster prototypes give a clue to the company’s direction with alternative fuel projects, as Porsche moves from experimenting with hybrid vehicles into fully electric cars.

July 26, 2010 — Furthering the Porsche Intelligent Performance development philosophy of combining high performance with lower fuel consumption and emissions, Porsche AG will begin practical e-mobility tests as part of the Stuttgart Model Region for Electromobility in early 2011.

There are four catalysts on the standard exhaust system, two primary cats within the manifolds and two secondary cats just before the rear silencers. The Milltek cat-back system removes the (non ecu-regulated) secondary catalysts for significantly improved performance and driver/machine response in one of two ways: either, to replace them with hi-flow emission-friendly sports catalysts, or, remove them completely with silenced (resonated) connecting pipes. Both options are shown in the photo at the top of this page.

Regardless of the option chosen, Milltek produces the system in the finest-quality aircraft-grade stainless steel and finishes them off with gorgeous twin 90mm (3.5 inch) tailpipes that have been designed to work in harmony with the stunning design of the Cayman and Boxster models. If you can’t feel the difference…we don’t sell it!
