@WesleyConoway There are tons of automakers out there offering the wackiest of designs, from Lotus to Lamborghini. Porsche is doing well, and they have sufficient customers. Not everyone will like them (the Cayenne is useless, the Panamera could’ve been better, the Boxster is a posermobile, etc), but everyone has respect for them to be courageous and work their asses off to make a failed design an awesome package (911). Like the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

In the late seventies, Foxton discovered The Vapors and co-managed the group with Paul’s father, John Weller. They will forever be remember for Turning Japanese, which hit the top three in the UK on the same week Going Underground was at number one.

After The Jam split, Foxton pursued a brief solo career, before joining punk band Stiff Little Fingers in time to record 1991’s Flags and Emblems. He remained with the band for fifteen years before announcing his departure in 2006, to be replaced by original bassist Ali McMordie.

The third version in Porsche’s Boxster range — the Spyder — is now on sale in the UK. It follows the Boxster and Boxster S. Porsche has announced local pricing – 46,387.00 GBP – for the mid- engined Porsche Boxster roadster, which made its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show last December.

With a weight of 1,275 kg, the Boxster Spyder is the lightest model in the Porsche lineup. Powering the car is a 3.4l six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection partnered with a PDK double-clutch transmission. It is capable of delivering 320hp and it can reach a top speed of 166 mph with the roof open. With PDK and the optional Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, can sprint from zero to 62mph in 4.8 seconds. Furthermore, with optional PDK, fuel consumption is rated at 30.4mpg (9.3 liters/100km) in the NEDC New European Driving Cycle. With every purchase comes an invitation to improve their driving skills and participate in the Driving Experience Program at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.
